Breast Milk, Cheese, and Twitter
by Samuel Febres
While out on a date recently with my wife, I had a strange thought/question pop into my head. Is it possible to make cheese from human breast milk?
Just so you can have a little understanding of where the thought came in, Natalie was enjoying some type of pasta at Carrabba’s with chicken and goat cheese. I personally want nothing to do with goat cheese, but Nat apparently loves the stuff. I think it smells nasty, and if it smells nasty, it tastes nasty. I was disturbed by the goat cheese; really disturbed. I wanted to try the chicken but she said I couldn’t have any unless I had it with goat cheese. I didn’t have chicken that night. Anyway, the thought of making cheese from a goat’s milk led me to think, well, if we can make it from a goat, why not from a human too?
Naturally, I did what any technologically oriented person does in our current day and asked my followers if they knew the answer.
I got back a response that lead me to this particular blog post.
In short, the answer is NO. Read the blog post though to see the hard work this woman put in trying to make some human cheese. It’s amazing and disturbing all at the same time. Really, read it.
At least I can now live my life safely knowing I will never accidentally consume human breast milk cheese.
BUT WAIT!!!
Thanks to Donny Fisher’s tip, I still need to keep my guard up because some dude at a Swiss restaurant is planning to serve meals cooked in human breast milk. WHAT?! You say. Yeah, you read that right.
When it comes to milk and cheese, it’s better to just have it at home, where you have a better idea of where it came from…. or didn’t come from… something.
